Computers can do this, and proponents of AI (Artificial Intelligence) claim that these abilities (or propensities) represent intelligence. I disagree. I tend to believe that there is a certain synergistic confluence of factors associated with intelligence -- some of which are, even as yet, unquantifiable or undiscovered.
