COMMENT! - BIRTH OF A NATION/ BIRTH OF A NOTION

Dear Readers:

One of our readers posted a comment in response to my last brief article regarding the Facebook social media phenomenon and BIRTH OF A NATION/ BIRTH OF A NOTION. This well-constructed and cogent comment goes more to the very core of what I had truly meant than what I had actually stated.

Ken - I thank you for sharing your insight with me, and with all of our readers at THE NATIONAL NETWORKER (TNNW). My compliments to you!

Ken said...

"Darwin must be smiling in his grave. Our society is certainly evolving and social networking is a prime catalyst. The evolution of telephones and computers has been dramatic in the last fifty years, but, right now, that evolution is accelerating to lightning speed. Can we, as a society, keep up? We are getting very close to being "connected" AT ALL TIMES - both to ALL other people and to ALL information. It won't be long before we all have a chip imbedded in us to allow permanent connection (to the internet and Twitter like capabilities). The problem is that the technology will be there BEFORE we have figured out how to manage/control it, as well as, manage/control the obvious privacy implications. A major portion of the stimulus dollars should go to R&D the future security infrastructure required to address this."

If I thought that he would be safe and remain uncorrupted, I would elect Ken to no less than a senior advisory position to either the White House or the United Nations. Note: Ken's current employment (pursuant to his Linked In profile) makes this deliciously ironic. I am laughing so hard that I am in tears.

I thank all of our readers for being a part of the esteemed and intelligent entrepreneurial community and country of THE NATIONAL NETWORKER. May we be an open, worthy and prosperously democratic meritocracy (if these last two things can coexist)! Now we need a NATIONAL NETWORKER Anthem and a flag.

Faithfully,

Douglas Castle

p.s. Adam - After all of this time, I must confess...you are, indeed, a visionary, you rascal, you.

p.p.s. Ken - If you've received one, you have my personal permission to keep every penny of your bonus. Or, at very least, 90% of the increment in excess of $250,000.00.
