An Obnoxious Survey That Belittles Everyone.

Dear Fellow Businesspersons and Others Fascinated by Lethal Marketing Tactics and Strategies:

You must read this. If you are illiterate, you probably won't even be able to have someone read this to you because you are not actually able to read a written notice which is (paradoxically) addressed to illiterate persons.

Never you mind.

I have always been told that one should "cater to one's audience."

Frankly, my catering skills are in shorter supply than my manners. This puts me at a distinct disadvantage when I try to Dale Carnegie my way into people's hearts and minds. I can't do it.

If I cannot graciously (and with subtle, meaningless compliments and promises which I never intend to keep) clutch people's hearts and minds, there must surely be something else that I can clutch them by. [This is not leading where you think it might]


People are always wondering what an advertiser's or promoter's "angle" is. They are curious.

We are all, by virtue of our hard-wired Human Nature, CURIOUS. This curiosity is heightened when they are made to feel deliberately excluded, or even forewarned.

The very thing that we can't or shouldn't have is the thing we somehow must get.

It's the world's oldest passion play...you know: Adam and Eve; Samson and Delilah; Romeo and Juliet; that time someone was getting out of his or her swimsuit and made you promise "not to look". You promised that you wouldn't. But you did. Even if you had your hands covering your eyes, you spread your fingers apart to look. Admit it.

I'll bet you've looked inside other people's medicine cabinets and underwear drawers.

Unless you are obsessed with this type of conduct and totally demented (i.e., they have television shows about people like you), a bit of this naughtiness is not unhealthy. It makes life more exciting. It's a natural stimulant. A nifty challenge.

The OBNOXIOUS SURVEY THAT BELITTLES EVERYONE follows. It is a thinly-veiled attempt to bring new Members into the rapidly-growing TNNWC Group. It is insulting. It is ridiculous. Yet it is funny. That is why you should take it -- but only if you're not a TNNWC Member or Client.

Here it is, in a conveniently widgetized format. It is viral. It is the kind of survey that people will not only send to their friends -- they'll even send it to their enemies. And many people won't even take it -- they'll just send it to other people. Think of how that dramatically increases the potential target audience of this "Join For Free" campaign!
