WHY IS DAVE SO SCARED? - CFNA RESPONDS
SUBTITLE: Network as much as you can, but keep a sharp eye on profitability.
Bruce Newman, Vice President of The Productivity Institute, LLC ( http://www.prodinst.com/), and I became acquainted with each other through some targeted interpersonal networking as Columnists for THE NATIONAL NETWORKER (TNNW) Newsletter. Bruce, an expert at identifying and matching top-rated consultants across the entire spectrum of business skills with client company demands, had ironically become a client of mine through my strategic planning and corporate development practice (http://aboutdouglascastle.blogspot.com/).
Through a series of intensive planning meetings with Bruce regarding the increasing role that his company was being asked to perform for its clients, we jointly developed Critical Factor Needs Analysis (CFNA), a tool for companies to evaluate and streamline operations in order to maintain positive cash flow and economic resiliency. Confession: we revisited and revamped a classic model of breakeven analysis. Second Confession: we did it because too many companies today, of all sizes, had forgotten about increasing inherent profitability through evaluation and restructuring of costs.
Our paper was generally well-received, except by Dave, who thought that we were almost as assinine as we were irrelevant. We invite you to read Dave's letter to us, and our response.

p.s. I have a secret Twitter name -- I spent hours upon hours thinking it up (after seeing the DaVinci Code). If you promise not to let anyone know, it's (come closer, don't make me yell across the table).....douglascastle. Talk about hiding in plain sight.... Shhhhhhh...
